PRACTICE

Practice, without an argument, tells you your current level in all the 
abilities (skills, spells, forms, foci, or songs) available to you. You can
check this anywhere.

Practice with an argument practices that ability, if done at a guildmaster
who can teach that ability. The ability level varies from 0% (unlearned) to
100% (mastered), and practicing will raise the ability to maximum of 75%.

Increasing an ability beyond 75% comes only through use of the ability. In
general, your intelligence and wisdom affect how well you learn by use in the
field. Additionally, you will learn more rapidly when facing foes who are
your better, and more slowly when facing easier opponents.

The effectiveness at which you learn an ability via practice is a function of
the primary attributes of that ability, found in the corresponding help. For
example, the Sword skill depends on both strength and dexterity. Your
dexterity and strength attributes will both affect the benefit you receive
from practicing sword at a guildmaster.

Many spells that are unique to greater spheres are not taught in all guilds. For
those seeking to learn such spells, they will have to search in appropriate
places for a teacher. The helpfiles for each scholar class will provide some
basic indications as to where to look.

The number of practice sessions you receive per level is a function of your
character's race.
