Pantheon

The deities of Avendar are immortal beings of immense power, each with their own interests, purposes, and plans. The various lineages each have their own presiding trinity of gods that lay claim to them and their destiny and have shaped the culture and history of those people. Though the majority of gods are focused on a specific lineage, most gods freely welcome worshippers from other lineages and cultures, embracing them as any other devotee. Through their chosen, deities may enact their designs upon the world in accordance with the ancient Compact laid down by the Overgods.

The Prime Material in which Avendar resides was created by the Overgods Iandir, Jolinn, and Ashur. They in turn created deities of Their own to steward Their new creation, as well as many deities coming from elsewhere to preside over the Prime. All deities ultimately bow to the will and might of the Overgods, though some more resentfully than others.
