Mindtap
Skill type: Foci
Skill subtype: Skill borrowing
Primary user: Psionicist
Per-tick cost: 20 Mana
Range: Single Other PC
Recast delay: 3 Hours
Syntax: Focus 'Mindtap' <Target> <Ability>

Foci Slots: 2

A psionicist may use this focus to sift through the accumulated knowledge of their target and claim a skill as their own. They may only appropriate skills and other foci (that is: character powers that appear under the 'skills' or 'abilities' lists).

Having spent so long shaping their thought patterns into forms harmonious to psionics, they are unable to seize spells of any sort; they are now too alien to comprehend. Skills that directly relate to magic (for example, [[linear amplification]]) cannot be borrowed, either. Similarly, the meditative state involved in using sword-forms is just different enough as to be dissonant to psionic focus. Similarly, it is just not possible to borrow skills like warpath and berserk that involve relinquishing all mental control.

The reuse delay applies only after being unfocused. It is only possible to tap a single skill at a time. House powers cannot be tapped. This focus may be used remotely over a mindlink, and is not inherently aggressive when used on a groupmate. It may, however, be rude to do so without permission.
