Pain Channel

Few are so adept in the workings of pain as those who practice both void and fire magics, a training evident in the pain channel skill. Each spell cast by a mage so trained will be enhanced in level, according to how hurt the caster is as a percentage of her total health. Facility with this skill may also enable the scholar to survive past the normal point of death, as each otherwise-mortal blow has a chance of not killing the mage. This chance diminishes the more hurt the mage becomes.
