Devotion

This spell allows its caster to bind themself with their weapon, becoming attuned to its deeper intricacies and enhancing their prowess with it. When used, attunement to a weapon will rise. This attunement translates to overpercent in the weapon's skill, allowing an earth templar to have the weapon skill higher than 100%. Any skill that uses that weapon will be better; see HELP OVERPERCENT for more information. In addition, it will raise the parry rate of swords and maces up to that of a polearm.

The amount of overpercent granted by attunement will start bigger, but will become smaller at a geometric rate as attunement grows. An earth templar may attune to as many weapons as they wish, but attunement is on a per-weapon basis; they will need to start attunement over on each new weapon. If a weapon is lost or destroyed, however, it may be replaced with an identical copy without losing their attunement. The overpercent being applied by attunement to the currently wielded weapon may be checked with the SKILLS command.
