Avendar

Areas

Avendar’s nearly 100 areas are all 100% original. The regions below represent rough geographic groupings.

The information on the left, in square brackets, represents the ideal level range for the area. Generally speaking, it’s a bad idea to explore areas with a ranges that begins at 5 or more levels higher than your character’s level. You will probably want to avoid areas that are labeled [HOUSE] as well, unless you are of very high level (45+). And if an area is labeled [ALL], nearly every character should be able to find something interesting to do there (but be especially careful if your level is low).

time system

AREAS shows you a list of areas in the game, including suggested level ranges for each.

COMMANDS shows you all the commands in the game.

TIME shows the Avendarian time.

TIME SYSTEM shows the system time, as well as when the mud last started, and the current local time for the host computer.

WEATHER shows the current game weather.

The WORTH command will bring up a quick spread of useful information, detailing such things as the amount of gold you have, how much xp/ep needed to reach the next level, and the number of arrows in your possession. Spellcasters should note that when they are encumbered, they will be able to see it through the worth command.

Who

Syntax
who
who <level-range>
who <house name>*
who <class> <level-range>

WHO shows the people currently in the game. Some people may choose to remain unseen and won't appear on the WHO.

WHO without any arguments shows all of the (visible) people currently playing.

WHO IMMORTAL lists all immortals currently visible to you.

*WHO <house name> only works if you are in that house, or they are guardians.

Whois

Syntax
whois <name>

The whois command identifies any user who matches the name given. For example, 'whois a' shows all characters whose name begins with A.

Where

Syntax
where
where <character>
where pk

WHERE without an argument tells you the location of visible players in the same area as you are.

WHERE with an argument tells you the location of characters with that name within your area, including monsters.

WHERE with the argument of "pk" will return all those in your pk range within your area.

Count

The count command displays the number of people (that you can see) logged into the mud. It also displays the highest number observed that day, if it is higher.

Mobs

"Mobs", short for "Mobiles" are the animate NPC's of Avendar. Since you should consider your character in a fantasy world, it's best to refer to mobs as monsters, creatures, animals, people, or whatever they actually are.

Non-Player Characters

You may see the acronym NPC commonly. This means Non-Player Character, and indicates basically any mobile or character in the game that is not a player character. IF you see 'Npc' on WHO, this means a staff member is controlling it and using it to roleplay. Feel free to interact with these NPCs if you see them and introduce yourself.
