This spell opens up the earth beneath its target, attempting to trap the unwary within. Anyone caught within an earth maw is unable to cast spells or perform songs, and will take damage periodically from the lack of air.

It is possible to escape this pit, both by attempting to escape through the hole in the ground or by magical means that may be at the victim's disposal. Targets who are flying will not be entrapped, and there must be solid ground beneath the target's feet in order for them to be swallowed.
