Sacrificing to Gods

Syntax: Sacrifice <object> <deity>

The sacrifice command allows a character to turn an item currently in the room with them into a sacrifice to a specified deity. This will destroy the item (similar to the destroy command) and may result in the god smiling upon them. Not all items will be suitable sacrifices; items that cannot be destroyed cannot be sacrificed, and some will simply have no value to any god.

The gods are relatively easy to please; they are more likely to reward those who make offerings of high-level items or on an appropriate altar (those with the pious trait are always considered as being on an altar), but this is by no means necessary. Declared followers of a deity will receive more powerful effects from sacrifice to that god, and those with god touches will receive even greater results. However, the gods are not jealous; one may still be rewarded by a god one does not devote one's life to, even if sigiled by a different god.

Sacrificing may provide up to two effects, if noticed by the god. The secondary effect will always be provided to the god-touched; otherwise it may occur on the basis of the dedicant's offering, as well as previous offerings they have made. Some gods will cause these extra effects under other, unique circumstances instead.
